MUSIC HALL TOUR: 6:30pm (RSVP required, no walkups)
CONCERT: 8pm
POST-CONCERT LOBBY PARTY immediately follows concert: 10pm

Mozart's graceful Concerto No. 20, performed by the "transcendental" pianist Lars Vogt, contrasts with the vivid orchestral colors and primal rhythms of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring?music that sparked a riot at its Paris premiere nearly a century ago. The program opens with music evocative of America's Great Plains, a world premiere by Robert Johnson of the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.

After the concert, Paavo will come out to the Music Hall lobby to meet-and-greet, sign your copy of the CSO's "Rite of Spring" CD, and share a nice beverage from our commemorative Stravinsky Festival coffee mugs, chilling to some intimate musical lobby entertainment.

Paavo Järvi, conducting
Lars Vogt, piano

ROBERT JOHNSON: prairyerth (World Premiere)
MOZART: Piano Concerto No. 20, K.466
STRAVINSKY: The Rite of Spring

    •  The pre-concert tour of Music Hall was a great way to cure many of those burning questions you have about Music Hall. Do you know why it was built? Who actually owns the building? What was Over-the-Rhine like back in the 1870's? This was also one of the most amazing performances of "Rite of Spring" I've ever heard - and it was to a nearly sold-out house! The lobby party afterward was nice; the jazz duo really set the mood. Plus, who can say anything bad about free desserts? Some of us got together for an after-after-party drink at Below Zero Lounge, just a few blocks away. It was a great evening!
